Summer School on Applied and Industrial Mathematics
Lappeenranta, 2. - 13.6.2003

The Summer School is jointly organised by
- Laboratory of Applied Mathematics, Lappeenranta University of Technology, and
- University of Joensuu.

The Summer School consists of five separate courses, each worth one credit point (1 ov). The courses consist of lectures, study of literature, exercise work and report writing. The modules are

- Some Trends in Optimization and Multiobjective Optimization, Ph.D Kaisa Miettinen University of Jyväskylä
- Tutorial lecture Mathematics in Other Sciences and Mathematics of Fluid Flow, Professor Verdiana Masanja, University of Dar es Salaam.
- Soft Methods and Tools in Data Analysis, Professor József Dombi, University of Szeged, Hungary
- Adaptive Filtering and Kalman Filter, Professor Yorgo Istefanopulos, Bogaziçi University, Turkey.
- Mathematics of Movement Tracking in Image Analysis, Ph.D Tuomo Kauranne, Lappeenranta University of Technology, Finland

Reports

Reports are returned according to the instructions of the lecturers. These instructions are updated here as soon as possible.

Miettinen Kaisa: Reports are jointly forwarded by Juha Alatalo.
Masanja Verdiana: Reports are jointly forwarded by Juha Alatalo.
Dombi József: Reports are jointly forwarded by Juha Alatalo.
Kauranne Tuomo: Reports will be returned directly to the lecturer Ph. D Tuomo Kauranne.
Istefanopulos Yorgo: Reports are jointly forwarded by Juha Alatalo.

All reports should be returned by 30th of June, 2003 according to instructions mentioned above.

Once the professor responsible for a course module has received the project reports and returned to us his/her assesment of the students performance at the course, those who have achieved an acceptable mark will receive a Certificate of attendance from the Summer School signed by professor Matti Heiliö.

Target Group: Postgraduate or advanced undergraduate students in applied mathematics and engineering. ECSE graduate school students. Persons involved in modelling and R & D tasks in industry.

Notes: Some additions and changes in the programme are possible. The content will be subject to the approval of department council. More detailed programme will be available in February 2003. Registration will be arranged via web at our page http://www.it.lut.fi/mat/kesakoulu/.

Last date of registration: 9th of May, 2003

The number of participants is limited to 40 students. Notification of acceptance will be given by May 15, 2003.

Fees: The charge for each course module is 120 euro. For university students only 20 euro/module is charged to cover the materials. Reasonable accommodation in student dormitory is available.
