11th International Summer School

The East Finland Graduate School in Computer Science and Engineering (ECSE) announces the 11th International Summer School in Novel Computing. This year the courses will be held at Lappeenranta University of Technology. The offered graduate-level courses are as follows:

The courses are held in parallel, thus, it is possible to participate to a single course only. Both courses contains approximately 25-30 hours of lectures and practice sessions. Participants to all sessions will be given a certificate, and Finnish students are entitled to receive 1 credit unit for their studies. (Possibility to do additional homework can be discussed with the lecturer when the courses start.)

The courses are intended for M.Sc. and Ph.D. students. There is no participation fee for ECSE students. Students from other graduate schools, or post-docs from other universities will be charged 100 euros in cash because of the course material, social events, and other practical arrangements. Participation fee for representatives from the industry is 200 euros in cash. Due to our limited resources, the organizers reserve the right to limit the number of participants to the courses.

Lappeenranta University of Technology is located in Skinnarila, in the western part of Lappeenranta. Buses number 5 and 6 can be used for public transportation from the center to the university. From the railway station, the bus number 5, or a taxi can be taken to go to the university. From the airport, it is the easiest to take a taxi. All participants are responsible for their travelling expenses.
Accommodation has been reserved from Finnhostel Lappeenranta (28-33 euros per night per person in a double room), and Karelia Park (21 euros per night per person in a double room) for the nights of August 9 till August 12 (nights of August 8, and August 13 are an option). The accommodation will be paid for ECSE students only. Other participants are responsible for their accommodation expenses, and other possibilities can be found from the pages of Lappeenranta Business and Tourism Services.
Breakfast is served at the hotel, and lunch can be eaten at the university cafe. For dinner, there are several restaurants in the center of the city (see Lappeenranta Business and Tourism Services). Participants are responsible for the expenses of their meals excluding the ones served in the social events.
