Summer School Venue
The 17th Summer School on Telecommunications will be held at the Student Union House, next to the Lappeenranta University of Technology (LUT). The University is a national university, financed by the Ministry of Education. It specialises in technology and economics. It has more than 3 700 students studying in the degree programmes, with an annual intake of about 700. Postgraduate degrees include Licentiate in Technology, Licentiate in Economic Sciences, Doctor of Technology, Doctor of Economic Sciences and Doctor of Philosophy. There are about 450 postgraduate students. Approximately 25% of LUT students complete part of their degree studies at partner universities in Europe, the USA, Asia and Australia.

There are four restaurants near the summer school venue. The closest is located in the same Student union building. Others are in the university main building, and in nearby buildings at Technopolis Kareltek technology center. Price for lunch is approximately 5 euros. For Finnish students, the lunch even for less than that (student ID card required).
Lappeenranta is the administrative, business and cultural centre of the South Karelia region. The eleventh-largest Finnish city by number of inhabitants, Lappeenranta is a city renowned for its friendly and good-humoured people, its natural beauty, its happy Karelian character and its good prospects for the future.
Travelling instructions (public transportation and map service)
Lappeenranta is about 3 hours from Helsinki. Lappeenranta can be reached by domestic flight (40 minutes), by train (2.5-3 hours) or by bus (4 hours). You can use Journey.fi service to find route information from Helsinki-Vantaa to Lappeenranta University of technology. Use Airport, Vantaa as source and Skinnarilankatu 34, Lappeenranta as destination. The service suggests connections for the route, and it's possible to show the route on a map.
